I know the symbolism is there in Dragonstone and it sets up Jon going to her for the obsidian, but she would have been better served landing on Griffin's Roost and immediately taking Storm's End. She'd be much better set up strategically, sitting behind the best fortified castle in Westeros.

Dany certainly isn't bringing much to the table land wise and really needs Jon and the north now.

Why is Jon so convinced that the White Walkers can get past the wall?

What defense do White Walkers have against dragons?

I don't think he knows whether the wall will contain them or not.

-Just a guess but maybe he's aware that the sea near East Watch is frozen and they can just walk around it? In the lead in for each episode the shot of that area of the map reveals a completely iced over region. Otherwise I'm not sure.

If you really love this series you might go for Stephen Erikson's Malazan Book of the Fallen of R Scott Bakker's The Prince of Nothing series. They are both represent the next progression forward in terms of the type of world building and storytelling Martin does. They are each more challenging in their way but I prefer both of these series to the Song of Ice and Fire (and TSOIAF is great).

Martin loves both of those series, for what it's worth

Malazan is really something else. Amazing story, and enormous scope. Imho not better than asoiaf, but it has interesting characters, great writing. It even has magic and Gods.

I prefer the two fantasy series The First Law and The Stormlight Archive.

first law is wonderful. Stormlight has been interesting but i suspect itll be long for the sake of being long

it'll be fucked if they don't. in the latest ep, jon proclaimed to tyrion that he's not a stark, then was immediately buzzed by a dragon.

Haha yeah it does but I wouldn't be surprised if the show did this.

It's where Jon said the army of the dead supposedly are heading. The vision the hound had was in this area and Tormund was asked to garrison East Watch. So a lot of plot elements are adding up.

I thought the fact that the nightwatch has dwindled to unsustainable numbers was at least partially responsible for Jon's belief that the night king could overcome the wall...
