the Temple of the Dog reunion shows were impressive IMO when they got to the covers (esp. Achilles), I was like ‘these guys can really fkin rip’. I felt like Chris’ presence pushed them. And they were crisp and hard and showed they are professional. Would be great for them to show this vibe as PJ. Maybe we needed wotsczinski there to keep Ed from sludging everything down and instead they could focus on the other four talented musicians

That article makes this whole thing seem even weirder. Like, we've had this thing sitting around for a while and we decided to let some rich fucks who don't really care about our music listen to it. But the actual fans, well... I guess they can just continue to wait indefinitely.

Our "YouTube feller" noted that Jeff made a comment during the listening party, something along the lines of Wottsteinschitz having an encyclopedic memory of their material, and referencing parts of older songs in order to make suggestions ie "remember that thing you do before the second verse in Oceans? let's replicate that". (Paraphrasing here)

It sounds like he pushed mike/matt. Jeff doesn't seem like he needs it, and stone probably just needed room for his muscular grooves to breathe, which I hope boy wonder afford him by keeping Ed in check.

I hear layers and "rhythmic things that bump up against each other" on those clips. I sincerely hope there is a LOT of that. Layer, layer, layer! That and MC's relentless pounding. If we can avoid a word count in these songs like SBWM, I think good stuff is in store.

It was most likely a decent amount of music journalists too. This is somewhat common in the industry. Metallica previewed St. Anger in 2003 to a room full of music press.

I'm still thinking this kinda thing is probably completely normal, we just don't usually hear about it; again with the example of film festivals, to which select critics get a "screener" but have to keep schtum until the embargo lifts; does this happen in music for huge bands? no idea but it doesn't feel implausible even if it's highly annoying
