"Andrew, do you have a bass that sounds a bit more subtle than this? For Something Special? Should I get my upright?"
"No, lets go"

yeah, thats probably the best thing about this song, that is not an awful tearjerker ballad like Future Days and The Haves but im sure itll be number 3 in ¨songs eddie should only sing to his family¨

I've come to terms with it, we've got glam rock swing instead of jazz / country swing, it's fine and works better here than in previous songs (Speed of Sound comes to mind)
No but seriously it’s like Matt has only two gears in his shift box.
This song calls for subtlety.
Matt, come on man.
It’s for the girls!
I've said this from year dot

the way he plays Dave A stuff, with all its dynamic, spacial, ghost noted goodness, is... well, "a travesty" is a bit mean but it's definitely something else
Its so strange of him because he is a very talented and versed jazz drummer. The guy knows how to! But he just doesnt in PJ

this was always a hallmark of good Pearl Jam though imo; if it was cute, there was a quirky edge; Lightning Bolt all but erased that edge

I haven't heard his jazz stuff but I have my doubts

And yet, both songs do a great job of highlighting the lowlights of Ed's current vocals.

I’m really going to try to focus on what’s positive about this clip.

Lovely sentiment. I can see why some folks especially dads with daughters would appreciate this.

Nice fuzzy bass. Unexpected.

Ok I lied. The drums sound worse here than anything we’ve heard so far. So flat and loud. And overall too glossy and pop rocky. This would be tolerable if it had a softer, folky, legit country vibe.

Ed’s lyrics are so on the nose I can’t just breathe.

They are idiots if they release this as the next single instead of what we’ve heard from others to be the highlights of the album (wreckage, upper hand, waiting for Stevie…)

Or… they are actually geniuses for releasing the 3 lowlights of the album first, lower our expectations, and leave us with the best stuff yet to come.

Barf.
