I also have my turntable at the hospital; the motor is not working well and maybe I will need to buy a new one.
I don’t quite want to because this is my grandfather’s turntable and the only one I have been using since I started collecting vinyl back in …1998 maybe ?

I've noticed a lot of you guys generally only buy new vinyl. For me, finding a gem in the used section is much more appealing and rewarding. I don't really care about the sleeve condition too much, so as long as the record is in good shape, that is generally the way I go. I do buy new, but it is usually artists doing rereleases for records I can't find. Just an observation that had me curious.

Re: The Vinyl Thread: Still Listen On Wax, Don't Use The CD
I found 3 nice used records last time I went to Newbury Comics, which is such a rarity these days. For me the golden age of used LPs ended a few years ago. But I agree, it’s much more fun to find a good deal and give a record new life than it is to hit “order” on Amazon.E.H. Ruddock wrote:I've noticed a lot of you guys generally only buy new vinyl. In record stores I pretty much only ever buy used, that's how they make their money. The profit on new is negligible almost. New albums I buy directly from artists through their website or bandcamp, or at their shows.E.H. Ruddock wrote:I've noticed a lot of you guys generally only buy new vinyl. There is a local shop downtown with a decent reputation for condition. The trade-off is that they know what they're selling and price accordingly.
Lately my main intake of used records has come from random sellers at Discogs, and maybe I'm running on pure luck, but I've had no complaints so far.

Re: The Vinyl Thread: Still Listen On Wax, Don't Use The CD
I'm (finally) alphabetizing my collection, in hopes of starting to use Discogs as intended (I had only logged about 50 from my collection, and most of the stuff purchased from their marketplace).
Anyway, I gave DisCovers a shot before I hit the delete all button, just to see what it looks like.

Should look waaaay different in a month or so.
Curious about what a disciplined user's collection looks like.
Come on, try it.
