Honestly, the thing I liked best was the scene of Kylo looking at his helmet. Something about the background there just felt sooooo original trilogy.

I like the first scene. I thought it was a flashback with Luke in ROTJ when he was with Vader. Something we havent seen in the movie.

I like the depth/seriousness of Rey's delivery here - someone who is awakening to a power/greatness that she respects and fears.

Also, to the credit of the trailer (and hopefully the film) they really shot this as Rey and Ren's story, not the return of Luke Skywalker. He looks to be a part of their story, not the other way around.

some good potential. Good imagery. Better than TFA. Curious as to how much of the dialogue was misdirection.

I think Luke was talking about the raw power of Kylo to Rey because maybe he's sensing Kylo's approach to the island. When Luke mentions feeling it before he could be alluding to the destruction of his academy at the hands of Kylo. The part about how he wasn't scared before but he is now makes me think of that. Luke afraid of Kylo? And what he represents is interesting. That adds some depth. It could be Rey as well. Either one will work.

I'm looking forward to the flashbacks.
Spoiler: show
Plot twist - I think Luke and Rey decide that she needs to hang with Snoke for a bit to better understand herself and the big bad and it will help flush out her 'grey jedi' potential. Also will allow the audience to get to know Snoke in a interesting way.

You think Kylo has been set up as someone with awesome and terrifying power?

I figured he was referring to his naive calm when meeting the emperor.

Could be that too. A lot of possibilities and all work well. I think Luke is a broken man at this point and losing that academy destroyed him and his opinion of Kylo was enhanced by that experience.

Kylo is kind of a loser though. Prone to fits of anger. Killed his dad. Got beat up by a girl in his only straight up, head to head fight.

keep in mind w the beat by a girl part he had just suffered an enormous wound from chewie with a weapon whose power the movie took pains to demonstrate, he was an unfocused mess from killing han, and until it was too late he wasnt trying to kill her

Remember also he wasn't trying to kill her at all. Only to disable her to capture her and bring to Snoke.

I remember that he never once looks like a man of awesome untrained power. Or even great potential.

In fact, calling him that now is practically a retcon. I find it far more likely that Luke is just not talking about him in that moment.

So it has to be Rey he's talking about regarding the raw power line.
