Also it’s clear that she and Finn has a rivalry. However, very little happens with her in the movies. Poorly handled.

Is that from her book? or Wookieepedia? There's nothing really for her to do in TFA (or TLJ) that warrants this detailed backstory, and if people can't get the basic idea of a character from the movie, then it's a reflection on the movie makers. I don't want to read comics and books to know why she is or isn't important in a movie.

If you can’t get from the movies that she was that important, that’s exactly why someone would say she was poorly handled.

If you can’t get from the movies that she was that important, that’s exactly why someone would say she was poorly handled.

I think she's a poor attempt at a Boba Fett.

Was Boba Fett important? Only for his portion of the movie. He was a bounty hunter hired by the Empire to find the Millennium Falcon. He did it, got his reward (Han Solo in Carbonite) and where was he taking his reward? To Jabba the Hutt, because he knows Han Solo is wanted by Jabba, and he can get money for him. He's playing both sides of the system, the Empire and criminals. If you think about it, ESB does a better interpretation of a character playing two different factions than DJ does in TLJ. DJ's is blatant, expository and in your face. He's like that triple crosser friend of Indiana Jones in KOTCS. What's his name?


It's an effective use of a secondary character. It doesn't hurt that he actually looks pretty cool in his armor. And then they kill him off in ROTJ, because 1) he isn't needed as a character anymore and 2) the good guys have to win during the rescue of our heroes. Could his death been a little bit better? Possibly, but it works because he is a secondary character that stays secondary.

Not a big fan of Boba Fett, think he is a poor character. Phasma is much more interesting.

I think the actor and character are fine, but the subplot he was part of was awful. I can understand why they wanted to show that kind of world (the rich thriving on war), but it was done too ham handed, and it was also meaningless to the main plot.

However, DJ himself is not in my top 25 complaints about TLJ.

I would agree that everything that happens with Rose and Finn is useless. But, damn DJ was so horrible.

I think DJ would have figured into the third film if Trevorrrow was still attached, remember the guy wrote a whole movie that disney thought was total shit before they fired him.
