Maybe this is what has been bothering me with him lately? I can never describe it but I might need to pay more attention to this.

“Guys, I got this! If we lift the melody off a song that a girl dedicated to her dad and call it our song that a dad dedicated to his girl, then no one is ever going to figure anything’s wrong, ever!”
“Okay, Ed.”

This is the song, and I agree the vocal melody sounds similar.
If people were pissed that PJ lifted Going to CA for GTF…
Thats more a copy of any Jason Mraz song than this one…
Its one Pop song on the record…its no worse than future days, the haves, just breathe…if this is it…the album could end up being more hard rock mid tempo stuff…thats cool

Ed's allowed at least one cringefest per album, it's in his contract

You guys see why production matters, yeah? Like how maybe this could be an enjoyable song if it didn't sound like the aural equivalent of a Kia covered in STDs?
What did the Kia have sex with to get STD’s? A tugboat?

I like it. I’m also glad that it’s apparently one of one on the album that are like this.

It sounds to me like the band is aware that the song is super poppy and cheesy, so they are intentionally trying to cover that up with a "tough guy" approach.
Pumping bass line - check
Fuzzy guitars - check
Pounding heavy metal drums - check
F bombs! - check

I’m waiting until the full song is released. I presume it will be in the next few days. Snippets are nearly always just an exercise in frustration. Did you not just learn this from the latest set of snippets?

Do you think Ed watched Moneyball and was so moved by Brad’s performance that he thought to himself what if i freaky fridayed the situation?
This is a nice melody that could have sounded great if it weren’t for bad production and the fact that it’s pseudo stolen. And the lovely sentiment is marred by the fact that it seems taken from an original song in a movie. Can we agree that Ed is the weak link of this band now and shouldn’t be the leader anymore? What is happening right now? Am I overreacting?

Wish this band would stop with the pussy ballads and return to the blistering rockers like Daughter, Small Town and Thin Air
