The real problem with Mind Your Manners is that Pearl Jam are trying to write something as good as this but they simply can't do it.

Embodying Punk aspects in your music, which is not Punk in style but Alternate Rock in truth, was Idlewild's real forte early on. They then decided to do the same with Folk Rock. They were extremely good at transferring between styles.

Pearl Jam are too - but when they play Punk they seemed to have lost the ability in the past 10 years.

I'm not sure this makes any sense. PJ aren't as good at aping styles as other bands are?

Best since Yield.

 Alex!
I thought the official "Best Since..." line of demarcation (as pronounced by Rolling Stone) was Vitalogy. Somebody call David Fricke.
Have I been wrong for 10 years?
How could I been so blind?
i usually go with "best since binaural"
:cop:

I would not have believed you were Idlewild's PR guy if you had let your post count reach the 200's first. You made your play too early.

I just listened. I like the first riff quite a bit. The lead guitar waffles boringly all the way through (there's literally no letup, he never stops). I find MYM to be more interesting; the only thing Idlewild are better at is copying skate punk's production values.

I'm pretty confident it will rank among my favorite albums of 2013. Somewhere around the 417th position.

Nooo, those were just the albums after Riot Act. Which is almost the same thing but with a subtle difference.

Given that all three of these bands are inspired by the Dead Kennedies, it makes sense that all three songs are kind of similar. Shock of the year, I know, but there we are.

A better comparison would've been NIN's "Everything" being better than "The Fixer."
