no. the message is bad. that's the whole problem with the film.

seriously tho, what did you take to be the message? It was a very philosophical film really.

Spoiler: show
is fletcher that bad? yeah he is a really pain in the ass..but he has a point. I see some talented people around just doing their work..not trying to succeed in anything more than gettin their paycheck...and i had bosses like Fletcher and for them i am a better professional...fucked up? maybe. But its really cool to be pushed out your fucking confort zone.

Imitation game definitely loses steam about halfway.

Absolutely okay to say it. Completely wrong, but certainly okay to say.

Not that you can trust him, but:

worth a watch. Looks good and almost seems unbelievable but based on a true story.

No way! The message is bad and that's what GREAT about the movie!
Spoiler: show
This very easily could have been some after-school, "very-special-episode" of Whiplash. A message about anti-bullying and blah blah blah.
It reminded me of something they said in Rush, a kind of shitty movie. You learn more from your enemies than you do from your friends.
Sorry Selma- but not everything great comes from love. His last concert (which we were led to believe was phenomenal) came from hate. He won, and his evil coach won. And that is unique.

I liked whiplash. The dynamic was as obvious as hell but you flip between hating Fletcher and understanding what he's trying to do. I was left wondering why is it up to him to do it apart from him being a control freak but one with a vision and nobodys able to come up to his standard.
The kid was an amazing drummer though. Endless reshoots of scenes in films, you could see he wasnt acting being that totally wiped out n tired but having to play through.

It's the quintessential all-American male name.
