Yea, I certainly agree with the sentiment. I don't know enough about the electoral map to say for sure, but my hunch is that doing so could still alienate a significant percentage of wavering voters.
Clinton always has the problem of "people think she can be too preachy" (i.e., she's a lady and people hate when their moms give them a lecture), and I think such a statement may run into something like that.

I think each side will be able to credibly say that their guy won, but I don't think Pence's arguments are going to hold up very well when compared to Trump's. He purposefully misled about Trump's positions many times.
