It's not as if it's some sappy ballad - there's some heart to it and it's musically, for lack of a better word, complex. It's got a really interesting melody, which is something this band has kind of been lacking in the last decade or so.
I'll even go as far to say I think it's the best PJ ballad since Thumbing My Way.
Still...

There's some emotional heft behind it, which is sadly lacking in latter day PJ.

What is it to be Future Day'ed? Put aside until way into the future to maybe enjoy it under different circumstances?
My read of being Future Day'ed is much more dystopian.
My issue with FD is that it should be more dystopian. The album has a religious / apocalyptic theme, generally. The keyboards on the outro should sound like people are being taken away by aliens at the end of the world, and they're not that pretty.
The song very much gives the feel of a church hymn, which coincides with the record.

I agree with this, and it's what I was arguing before I realised that I just didn't really want to listen to that keyboard.

Making love,
An unfortunate feeling, the insemination, let me catch my breath.
She comes after me.
Oh this could be as good as it gets!
Now nothing works, works for me anymore.
I can feel the current pulling down, down, down....
Forsaken down below.
I always kept it to myself,
Parts I have no need for anymore.

Has anyone watched any of the performances on Jimmy Fallon this week? I was pretty interested to hear that rendition of Corduroy.

Really like the album so far. The first 3 tracks IMO are stellar, have they played Getaway yet? I'd have to say My Fathers Son is my favorite so far and Pendulum is really growing on me. Didn't like it too much at first and even found myself skipping it the odd time.
Only skipping Sleeping By Myself, Records and Future Days but I'm warming to that one as well. This is definitely stronger than the last 2 but doesn't really touch the others.
