The thing is, he wasn’t even interacting with you at that point and you went out of your way to involve him. I bet if you didn’t make that post there would have been no interaction. You can limit how much affects your posting experience very easily if you don’t agree with him or anyone else.

I'm not sure where that perception comes from, and I wont speak for Burt, but I've been very transparent about my views on Trump. When he advocates for a position I support (e.g. militarized southern border), I support him in that goal. When he advocates for a position I oppose (tariffs on Canada), I chime in with those opposing it. When he advocates for a position I support (ripping out the federal level diversity industrial complex) but through a method I oppose (firing everyone with some word in their title), I am vocal about that as well. My criticism of Elon here is that he has begun treating the federal government of the US like some California tech start-up and that approach is not compatible with how our system of laws and separation of powers works. So he is going to notionally accomplish a bunch of things, but many if not most will be reversed by courts because he doesn't want to recognize that the executive branch has Constitutional checks and balances against it. There's a lot of latitude there, but right now he's acting on ego and not in the interests of America and it's gonna blow up in his face... leaving the rest of the world to pay the bills. I assume Trump likes this arrangement because it means he can point to Elon should things going really badly. The corollary of that is that Trump is the only human on the planet that can put Elon in check right now, so any opposition to Elon's behavior or Trump's policy platform has to start with motivating Trump to slow him down and the best way to do that is to make him feel like Elon is embarrassing him.

Perhaps I have not been reading your posts closely enough then. My feel has been a general support of most actions, but I certainly don't read everything in this thread (for my own sanity).

Aluminium is almost infinitely recycleable and cheap as chips to recycle.
Coke etc in EU countries all use recycled aluminium.

To a hobbesian type of man thoroughly submerged in the nanny state who can't conceive of people doing fine outside the state, I can see how a massive reduction in government bureaucracy would seem like wanting to "burn it all down".

I do think government would work better, not worse, if it was reduced by 50-75%, and this seems like it would be obvious to anyone who has ever worked in an organization of more than 2 dozen people in their lives. The vast majority of it is make-work, bullshit jobs for Democrat voters that produce nothing anyway.

If Dems want to run on increasing the size of the IRS, I won't stop them.
