i'd assume.
but re: It's OK tag on Daughter... i have an inside scoop on part of the reason they keep playing that, and it's anti-PRAMG
As someone who irrationally hates how regularly they ruin Daughter with it, I’m curious to know the reason.
Oh wait - is it a royalties thing for Fred Cole’s family?
bingo

Your ticket said 630 means the gate openining time.
No, that's not what it meant.
And probably printed that time because of possible congestion in such a venue and stragglers.
It didn't really help with congestion, it just made it earlier. But I think congestion is inevitable at Fenway, so no big deal in my eyes.

Half of the congestion is caused by the stupidity of the people in attendance. Night 2 from the pavilion I watched as people stood in line for 20 minutes for beer with a stand with no line at all on the other side.

I don't know, this is clearly a different situation to standard advice that doors open at 6:30 (or whenever) and the band plays some time after that.
The venue Twitter account specifically recommended everyone arrive early as the band will begin playing at 6:30, so you can hardly blame people for treating that message as having been authorised by the band/management, and being annoyed when they didn't play for a long time after that.

Ok, that's the first I've seen that. That is kind of fucked up. But did Pearl Jam put any message like that out? Or just the venue? That could be a fuck up on Fenway's part without the band even knowing

I'm with you, MJD -- as someone who won't spend a dime on merch or overpriced refreshments and who has zero interest in associating with the other PJ-swag-clad dopes in the venue, I find the delayed start times a nuisance. Just because your dumbass rock-n-roll ancestors didn't stick to a schedule doesn't mean that there's some noble tradition to be carried on by sitting on your ass getting drunk in a dressing room while 10,000+ people sit around waiting for you to give them what they paid for. Break the cycle, buy a watch, and quit wasting my fucking time -- I've got a long drive home.

No, just the venue (AFAIK), but you can hardly blame people for treating it as having been authorised, even if the band had no knowledge of it.
(I'm not sure that circumstance really rings true, though; why would Fenway issue that message without first having talked to someone in the band's management? Perhaps something was lost in translation.)

That looks like and very likely is the venue talking out of school and as has been said trying to get punters in Early for more money via beer etc
The reason pj merch is always outside the venues these days?
It’s cos they don’t want to pay the ludicrous cuts that venues take from the merch gross when they sell it inside the venue.
Lots of smaller acts have taken this up and are selling their merch in bars near the venue their playing. Good sense. Venues take a ridiculous cut.
*youll notice the band hasnt dropped the prices of merch accordingly though.

My theory is that they did coordinate with the band's management, and everyone planned to have the actual show start around 7:00 or a little afterwards, but something unexpected caused the delay.

Fenway said 6:30 for Tuesday as well and they went on about ten minutes earlier than Sunday night. I think this is just standard the band goes on an hour or so after “start time” but the Fenway tweet just confused things and got people excited that it was to be an “epic show” and that’s where a lot of this anger is coming from.

That, and 90 minutes was long even for them. No idea if the band was in on that tweet but it was being heavily talked about on the official forums as well with big threads telling people to come early so the band could start on time. I know that was from fans, not the band, but still, the band did nothing to discourage this line of thinking. If you look at that tweet you see a lot of angry fans tweeting after 7:30.
For me, I was like...ok, 6:30 yeah right. I was super hopeful for 7 or 7:15 (for a 3h15m show) but thought it'd PROBABLY just be 7:30. By 7:15 I was like oh well, yeah right, 6:30, har har.
By 7:40 I was like ok wtf is going on

So, in case this wasn't posted amidst the start time issues:
About as perfect as PRAMG PJ can do. An absolute fav of mine and my personal highlight of the two shows.

Tremor Christ was definitely the highlight of the two shows for me.

I loved Tremor Christ but I'm confused.
Everybody is FREAKING out saying things like Tremor Christ(!!!) and acting like they haven't played the song in years and they can't believe they did it omg!
I know it's a rarer song compared to most but it's not THAT rare. They play it at least once a tour and they already played it earlier this year.
Why is everybody acting like it's some unheard-of rarity?

Because it is a good song. Most rare songs are songs that don't translate well live. TC does and should be played more
