Does Peeps lose anything? (besides hours of his life)

He'd probably just go from clueless to cultist, like so many before him.

Rough day at possibly the world's most successful fundraising newsletter (that also happens to be a 501(c)(3)).

They might have lost a libel suit or two, but normally not much in the way of lawyering involved.

When you accuse something of being an undefined 'hate group', that's not actionable unless you slip up and claim something falsifiable.

AI can definitely recreate their normal work content of hate reports or w/e, so you might be right on that.

A tweet in that chain indicates they are dropping anti-racist education efforts, which makes sense because that fad has thankfully left us.

My understanding is that the non profit sector is seeing a drop off in funding generally, so perhaps these positions were tied to funding that was not renewed. What's the new hotness in NGO land that will excite organizations such as the Ford foundation to open their wallets?

I had a thing with about a dozen college students today and as we were going around the table doing introductions all but two of them announced which pronouns they use and I think I injured myself rolling my eyes so hard.

It’s good to recognize the end of slavery in the United States.

It’s been rolled out awkwardly IMO in terms of whether or not certain businesses or services are closed. Basically it’s optional to observe the holiday.

Now that I don’t live there and wouldn’t have to deal with it daily, I’d love to see America lean hard progressive.

Yeah, I couldn't deal with this. Pretty sure I would just laugh out loud to be honest.

Did everyone look kinda vaguely androgynous? I appreciate that I am well out-of-the-loop here, but why on earth do you need to announce your pronouns if you aren't gender fluid/confused? Is this just a thing we are all meant to do now?

And just quietly in a situation like that I'm unlikely to remember your name, no chance I remember your pronouns!

OK, so, imagine you are a person and it is important to you that other people use the proper pronouns when they refer to you. For whatever reason. You are transgender or no longer identify with your gender assigned at birth or you are self-conscious about how the way you look doesn't neatly fit in typical gender expression or whatever.

You are sitting in a group of twenty strangers, introducing themselves one by one. If seventeen of those people just said "My name is x, my pronouns are y", how easy is it for you to also use that opportunity to clarify your pronouns?

How hard is it if zero of those twenty people just did that. You're really putting yourself out there.

So, those kids introducing themselves using their pronouns, even when those pronouns seem obvious, is them making that space feel a little more comfortable for the person in that group for whom that might be harder.

It's a kindness and it costs nothing
