Haven't loved a PJ song this much in a very, very long time.
Don't sleep on Stone's solo.evenslow wrote:I know it's been said a bunch in this thread but god damn the last minute or so of this is Pearl Jam at their fucking best, hitting on all cylinders, heavy but clear, Jeff taking the lead, Matt actually sounding like he's alive, all mixed perfectly, etc, etc.
I think the ending solo is Mike.Monkey_Driven wrote:Don't sleep on Stone's solo.evenslow wrote:I know it's been said a bunch in this thread but god damn the last minute or so of this is Pearl Jam at their fucking best, hitting on all cylinders, heavy but clear, Jeff taking the lead, Matt actually sounding like he's alive, all mixed perfectly, etc, etc.
I'm referring to the first solo. It's the appetizer before the main course.Brett wrote:I think the ending solo is Mike.Monkey_Driven wrote:Don't sleep on Stone's solo.evenslow wrote:I know it's been said a bunch in this thread but god damn the last minute or so of this is Pearl Jam at their fucking best, hitting on all cylinders, heavy but clear, Jeff taking the lead, Matt actually sounding like he's alive, all mixed perfectly, etc, etc.
The brief, skronky solo at around 2:26 is Stone.Brett wrote:I think the ending solo is Mike.Monkey_Driven wrote:Don't sleep on Stone's solo.evenslow wrote:I know it's been said a bunch in this thread but god damn the last minute or so of this is Pearl Jam at their fucking best, hitting on all cylinders, heavy but clear, Jeff taking the lead, Matt actually sounding like he's alive, all mixed perfectly, etc, etc.

Ah, my bad. I saw evenslow was talking about what was going on in the final minute of the song, and I just kinda assumed that was the solo you meant.Monkey_Driven wrote:I'm referring to the first solo. I couldn’t agree more.smallest_oceans wrote:Still get excited / surprised when it comes on. The grove, the jam, even the latter day Ed Vocal with it's distorted effects. It's all great.

yeah it's great; I used to see this "everything falls apart" type of ending as a real hallmark of PJ's music, but they've been so obsessed with clean precision in recent times, they wouldn't have tried something like this; I'm glad they loosened up on this albumdimejinky99 wrote:I love the way this almost falls apart by the end. Like a mad frenetic energy they’re all loving different ways. It cool
