Re: Retrograde
I don't think I'm going to watch this.
It's one of the songs on the album that I'm actually pretty fond of, I'm not sure I want to risk ruining that.

Re: Retrograde
What am I not getting about the animation in this? It is so choppy and distorted, I don't see how anyone can enjoy this. I guess it is for artistic effect of some sort, but sheesh

Lol, if your ability to like something is so fragile, do you really even like it to begin with?VinylGuy wrote:Really?Birds in Hell wrote:I don't think I'm going to watch this.

Re: Retrograde
this is my favourite track on the album and this video has not changed that.Birds in Hell wrote:I don't think I'm going to watch this.

Re: Retrograde
I think the strip mall bit was great, with the car parking and the rain etc.
the album titles lining the street though was kinda, OK I smiled, but I wish Pearl Jam would stop being SO self-referential all the time
does any other band celebrate their band so much?
I like the video more and more, though; a solid and fitting concept and I'm glad Greta was involved (with PJ and The 1975, nice)

Re: Retrograde
This 2-star song is still a 2-star song with a 5-star outro after watching the video.

Re: Retrograde
it seems like some kind of watercolour / coloured pencil phone filter; it looks a little cheaper than I'd like but also kinda appropriate for all thatLikeLukin wrote:What am I not getting about the animation in this? I still don't get this.Ledbetterdays wrote:This 2-star song is still a 2-star song with a 5-star outro after watching the video.
I like the song a lot but the outro is just functional for me, it's not something that really hits me strongly either way. It doesn't drag the song down but doesn't elevate it either.

Re: Retrograde
Can totally see Ed bringing Greta on stage while singing this or giving a very Ed-like clunker of a name-drop when this is played. Cringe-worthy.
I think 4 singles is one too many. The video is bad but I still like the song.

Re: Retrograde
It’s by far the best part of the song. I don’t get how that isn’t obvious to everyone. *shrug*Birds in Hell wrote:I still don't get this.Ledbetterdays wrote:This 2-star song is still a 2-star song with a 5-star outro after watching the video.

Re: Retrograde
Really starting to dig this song. I was just listening to Moonlander which is even more stellar than I remember. Right after listening to it, I wanted to listen Retrograde. So, beverage in hand, I just made this playlist:
Open Door
Push Me Pull Me
Seven O'clock
Light Years
Moonlander (Stone)
Retrograde
20th Century (Brad)
Better Days
May be a one-time listen but enjoyed it.

I want one more single, River Cross. And a video. The band just playing the song in their studio.hailroad wrote:Can totally see Ed bringing Greta on stage while singing this or giving a very Ed-like clunker of a name-drop when this is played. Cringe-worthy.

I dont see how this video could ruin the song for you.Birds in Hell wrote:I don't think I'm going to watch this.

I watched it once...that's enough for me.
