It's run by fans but I imagine PJ do donate

when Pearl Jam campaigns to make more gig venues accessible for wheelchairs I'll start criticising the minutiae

Working title for the album was 'Low T Warriors' with GS State B-ball logo but droopy eggplantRockPusher wrote:These guys are 60 and sound like they’re at least 20 years younger. If Watt is their Viagra, as someone delicately put it, then wam bam THANK YOU man!

we can agree that if giant white man rock bands collectively gave all their money away we could go to concerts for free

I didn't mean to criticize PJ'S history of activism; it is precisely because of that history that I would've expected them to opt out of this recent boom in ticket prices. The Cure are just an example of how an arena-and-stadium tour can be made more accessible to less wealthy fans and still be profitable

I agree with you, I wish they would; but the general "PJ are no longer activisting as much as I think they should" argument has come up every album cycle for 20 years

Re: Dark Matter: Official Album Thread
A PJ Reddit user who claims to have gone to the listening party said this about Waiting for Stevie
"The song is def a stand out. Gave me chills. Soaring anthemic PJ.
I could see Breath-ish. On first listen I got references to In Hiding and the final minute of Amongst the Waves. Really excited to see the fan reaction to this track. Maybe my fav Eddie vocal performance from what I heard on the album. But there are a lot of highlights tbh."
I reached out for more details but no response. If this is true, then it's likely the In Hiding style song from the metal door leak is indeed Waiting for Stevie.

that's unexpected, at the moment I can't imagine Ed emotionally belting out "waiting for Stevie!" in a call and response but I'm open-minded

and, since that one sprung up during the earthling sessions, we've got another wotman writing credit coming.

It’s not about writing credits..PJ seemingly trying to recreate a big album like ten using all the latest 2024 rock gimmicks? That sounds terrible.. I’d rather listen to human clay, At least that album is funny.

Just as an aside, does anyone really believe this?stip wrote:The band has said that Watt has a deep knowledge of their catalog and would use it to help communicate musical ideas to the band during the writing and recording
I'm sure he's pretty aware broadly of the stuff they do, and no doubt did a deeper dive on getting the gig, but I also find it hard to believe he's a long-standing fan on the same level as any given member here.
It makes for a good story, though.

It's wild that people are assuming an agenda like this rather than that a bunch of rock musicians who like creating rock music together got together with their creative impulses and created rock music that they like together.coptheriotact wrote:It’s not about writing credits..PJ seemingly trying to recreate a big album like ten using all the latest 2024 rock gimmicks? Why the hell is it hard to believe? I don't understand this level of cynicism at all! Yes, I absolutely believe that Watt is a big fan and was as excited to work with Pearl Jam as Ed was to work with him again.Birds in Hell wrote:Just as an aside, does anyone really believe this?stip wrote:The band has said that Watt has a deep knowledge of their catalog and would use it to help communicate musical ideas to the band during the writing and recording

I don't doubt he likes the band a lot, and did so before producing Ed's solo abum - but I also think the level of his fandom is being exaggerated to some extent, that's all.RockPusher wrote:Why the hell is it hard to believe?
