As much as I'm loving this song, I just can't get behind this.stip wrote:Running is also better than Evacuation AND God's Dice. But probably not the two of them combined.

you don't like this song, so you're comparing it with other songs you don't likeDeeDee wrote:Punky and subpar.Ms Harmless wrote:what does it say apart from they're all punky?SJM wrote:The fact we’re taking about Ole, Can’t Deny Me, and Supersonic here on the day PJ released a new single says it all.Noaheb wrote:DeeDee wrote:Running and any song is better than Supersonic .Leatherhead wrote:Ole is better than Supersonic. This is Supersonic 15 years later, but without the surprise element and that fresh feeling.
Running is better than Olé.
Can't deny me rocks so long as you dont hear the lyrics.

It means they're not good writting and playing that kind of songs.Ms Harmless wrote:you don't like this song, so you're comparing it with other songs you don't likeDeeDee wrote:Punky and subpar.Ms Harmless wrote:what does it say apart from they're all punky?SJM wrote:The fact we’re taking about Ole, Can’t Deny Me, and Supersonic here on the day PJ released a new single says it all.Noaheb wrote:DeeDee wrote:Running and any song is better than Supersonic .Leatherhead wrote:Ole is better than Supersonic. A single decision like Spin the Black Circle, Who You Are, Nothing As It Seems, etc.? I like all those songs but singles they are not. I also liked Running though I need quite a few listens for it to seem organized in my head.Homeboyd wrote:I don’t know who said it (probably Stip), but this song probably works better as an album palette cleanser after two longer mid-tempo songs than it does as a single. But it wouldn’t be Pearl Jam without some baffling decisions.
organized is a good word to describe it, Liebzzliebzz wrote:A single decision like Spin the Black Circle, Who You Are, Nothing As It Seems, etc.? I like all those songs but singles they are not. well NOW you're just being a know it all!tragabigzanda wrote:“Group shouting” are called “gang vocals” in the studio world, and they did it on SBWM — “I ask forgiveNESS,” etcstip wrote:Things I like and or love about Running before I go to bed.
-The bass and drums at the start. A real sausage of a beat.
-leading up to the first verse there's this really cool guitar stutter underneath the main punk line that I just picked up on now (headphones listen) - you can examples at 11 and 13
-I like the group shouting going into the chorus. They don't really have anything else like that I can think of offhand.
-I like the vocal melody Eddie has during the Tunnel/funnel sections
- I really like the 'cuz we left the fucking water running' moment
- and the guitar transition out of it, which is like what I was flagging earlier but more forward in the mix. It's actually more prevalent going into verse 2
-there's a cool grove to the rhythm guitar coming out of the first chorus as well.
-Really the inspirational grind of the bridge - the music especially. The 'reprieve not looking likely' is a good transition into the solo.
It's not Mike's best solo, but a Mike solo is almost always welcome news and it's got a playful swing to it, and there is a fun little taunting section at the end of it
Great Good vs Evil energy at the end. Don't know what the hell Ed is saying.
Good abrupt stop. I like how both this and dark matter don't so much end as they halt.
