What I don't understand is why he bangs his head on a desk over something he would probably say is a silly cartoon movie franchise designed to sell toys and funny books to children.

He loves these movies he just wants more originality and creativity.

That's what it became to George Lucas. At the outset it was a really great backdrop for epic storytelling, and a re-invigoration of one particular genre (science fiction) which had splintered into excruciating camp and works that crawled completely up their own asses.

I appreciate the aside, there, and that's mostly accurate. But in regards to the first post, it's more to do with the value and function of storytelling than it is with characterization.

Stories have an arc, and those arcs have resolutions that are uniquely different from their beginnings. These differences are not unimportant. I honestly don't understand why anybody would want to treat them like they're not, when all they can possibly do is enhance your results.

Alls I know is that I like popcorn. And a McP post.

Popcorn in a movie theater is tits, if you smuggle in enough booze to go with it. Otherwise licorice, thanks.

It's the most fun a girl can have without taking off her evil robes.

It's also no mistake that the character who most embraces hatred in the prequels is literally the only one who seems to be enjoying themselves. Ever.

I like it when I manage to seed half a page with other people's grumblings about my grumblings. That's a knee for a bee. I guess I like the first ten minutes or so of A Christmas Carol, before it gets all squished up and preachy (although the orphanage, work party, and cemetery scenes are generally sound). I like cookies that other people are planning on eating later but have left momentarily unattended, so long as they do not contain nuts. If there's a Hershey's kiss in the center and it's kind of gooey, I consider that a bonus. I like Goodluck Jonathan, but I only know him by name. Maybe he's a mass murderer. Still. I like oral...preferably from someone else's girl, but mine will do in a pinch. I like season two of the original Star Trek and season three of the Next Generation. The world is really weird...I like that. Blockbuster movies that do something unexpected or beyond the frames of formula. Oh, Firefly was pretty good, too. And World's End. You know, the Catch 22 movie was a lot better than it gets credit for. Barry Lyndon, Seventh Seal, City of Lost Children, Arrested Development. Mel Brooks to a point. I like those. The written word. The many remarkable things that can be done with it. I prefer both reading and listening to watching. I like calling in sick to work when I'm not really sick, and I sometimes like wondering what this was all about:



Beyond that...I guess I like negativity on the internet.

We've come full circle at this point, except instead of camp and self indulgence we are stuck hoping for creativity from 35 year old "franchises" starring 80 year olds. Its a ridiculous thing to even hope for, yet here we are. But in order to re-invigorate the genre again, these sad old things need to die, but I don't see that happening any time soon. If the prequels weren't enough to kill off Star Wars, nothing will. All our asses will be in the seats whenever this comes out. Because we deserve it.

I think Phantom Menace could have been quite good with a few changes. Shorter pod race, less silly/comical Jar Jar, no midi chlorians, etc. In AOC the romance and some of the battle stuff should have been done different. ROTS was a return to form, and a good movie.

I liked the interacting between Obi Wan and Qui Gonn, I like the worlds Naboo, Coruscant, and Tatooine, as well as the production and feel of the movie, I enjoy the political game on Coruscant, the veil of something greater going on in the galaxy (a dark plot), Darth Maul, the fighting with the destroyer robots, some small part of the humor, Natalie Portman, the backstory to C3PO, Watto, the star ships, some of the basic plot/story.

I can understand the jar jar hate, but I never understood why more people didn't hate those stupid Japanese stereotype bad guy aliens. they were far more annoying to me. it doesn't help that literally nothing they do over the course of the entire movie, from the smallest decision to the largest, makes any sense whatsoever. at least jar jar had an excuse: he was mentally ill.

Yes, I like him (Watto). I wish he was a bit less animated and crude in an animated kidslike way, but I like his style, his humor, and even his design.
