“Third World Man” is a great song
I don’t care for the music at all. The lyrics are good but if I can’t engage with the music, there’s no point.LoathedVermin72 wrote:What bugs you about BS? That and "Third World Man" are my two favorites on the album and, I think, two of the best songs they ever recorded.wease wrote:I totally agree with that. I just can’t get into all the tunes. I can’t stand Babylon Sisters, the title track or My Rival. Time Out Of Mind is the only one I truly love. The others are ok. I like the outtakes more than most of the songs on the album. Second Arrangement and The Bear are great songs and I’d much rather they be on the album.LoathedVermin72 wrote:It's probably their smoothest and slickest work - the inevitable Sophisti-Pop endpoint their '70s Soft Rock was always leading to. I think the songwriting is really beautiful, too - the "here come those Santa Ana winds again" beat in "Babylon Sisters", for instance, evinces just how totally they had mastered their craft by that point.wease wrote:What do you like so much about Gaucho, LV?
Nice. Jack of Speed is probably their best post-Gaucho track. Godwhacker is pretty damn good tho.LoathedVermin72 wrote:TAN is very good but I don't like the sequencing and I abhor "Cousin Dupree"
I only listen to it with this tracklist:
1. Jack of Speed
2. Almost Gothic
3. Gaslighting Abbie
4. What a Shame About Me
5. Two Against Nature
6. Janie Runaway
7. Negative Girl
8. West of Hollywood
