we watched the Chappelle special last night and really liked it. the thing my wife found funny was that she had read quotes from his show on some random blog, and people were piling on Chappelle in the comments (shocker). completely out of context, pulled lines from a bigger joke, and within the contents of a pointed blog post, none of the quotes came across as jokes. but in the context of how they are supposed to be received – IN A COMEDY ROUTINE – they were fucking hilarious.

The last thing I saw was Ian Edwards' Comedy Central special. I thought it was really good. There were a few outstanding bits.

Yeah, his latest two specials have been awful. But that making fun of Shaq bit is funny. Come to think of it, I remember seeing Damon Wayans to a making fun of Shaq bit in his stand up. Easy subject, I guess.

The thing I took away from it the most was that these are indeed jokes, and Dave Chappelle is indeed a comedian playing a role when he's on stage.
