We’ve been sitting here in the car in the lot not moving at all trying to leave after this Beyoncé show. She was supposed to hit the stage at 7:00 and at 8:10 the venue staff told us workers that she wasn’t taking the stage until 9:00. They didn’t announce it to the crowd. Fucking Axl Rose diva bullshit. She finished about 11:15 and it’s now 12:15 as we’re still waiting to even fucking move.
All the concessions at most of our sporting and entertainment events are sourced out to nonprofits like the one we volunteer for. Since they’re nonprofits, we don’t get paid in the normal sense. We all have kids, or the kids themselves work, and they have college tuition or some other extracurricular fees and the money is sent directly to those places. We have one daughter in college and the other does school and competitive cheer. Mrs Wease started doing these in February or March and I started in May. We get paid a base fee per event, then all the tips for that are tallied and divvied up between all the volunteers. Our oldest went to France to study for 3 weeks this summer and that’s how we paid for it. So the amount you’re paid per event can vary greatly. The Shania Twain show has been our biggest payout yet with the two of us making $400 each. The Duran Duran show was one of the worst with us only making around $125 each. So it’s just a way to bring in a little bit extra and have it specifically designated for a particular use.Higgs wrote:Why? Haha. Good god no. It’s barely worth my time and effort as it is.Bammer wrote:I thought you were gonna say you basically make enough to cover gas and parking to/from the event.

well Axl is on time these days, and he seems to be in very good mood so seems it could be a good night.wease wrote:We’re working Guns ‘n’ Roses next month.E.H. Ruddock wrote:Wease, you need to work some 80's hair metal band reunion show and check out all the old groupies. I bet veins will be there!
I’m actually looking forward to it. I contemplated actually getting tickets for it when I thought AiC was opening for them. As it is, with our booth location there, it’s a great venue for us to see the stage and we hear the show as if we were in seats. Or walking the concourse anyway.
