Is this a thinly-veiled "sell me that vinyl" post?
No this was an overt jab at trag for trashing CDs in my CD thread. Basically trag should Rochambeau himself
I hadn't even posted in your CD thread when I showed off my new record.

My post was for trag to see! You were just collateral damage.

Couldn't help myself, I went back today for 4 more.
you got those online?
Yup!
Not everything is in stock, and a few releases and pre-orders are not part of the sale, they're also famous for delays without updates, but they're legit.
At those prices I'm super willing to wait for goodies to arrive.
Happy to report that both orders from Universal delivered 2 weeks later.
The haul and the prices put a nice little bow on 2024.

I have inherited this Thorens Td150 Mk II turntable and Kenwood receiver from my folks. I have zero idea how to go about updating/servicing it but would like to set it up to replace my cheap Audiotechnica turntable.
Is it worth it? And assuming so, what steps should I take here oh turntable heads of RM?

OK, I'm probably gonna upset you now...
This is the only turntable I have ever known my parents to own and vividly recall many years ago taking the table off to put the belt in a figure 8 to play Queen's Another One Bites the Dust backwards (yep, it really does sound just like "it's fun to smoke marijuana")...
But other than my tinkering I don't believe it's ever been mistreated. Certainly a new cartridge is in order (any suggestions here?).
As for my current set up (and you may want to prepare for further irritation here) I'm plugging my existing cheap turntable with built in amp direct into a pair of Sonos Play 5's, so no existing amp at all. I do however have a Sonos Amp that I could easily enough use as I'm not keen on buying new speakers (the Sonos Play 5s sound great to me as a stereo pair).
One issue I'll have is that the existing turntable power is direct from the amp itself via a weird 2 prong plug - no idea how I can get around that without using the existing amp tbh.
There's actually a speciality turntable repair/refurb shop not far from me so I might start there regardless, but happy to hear your thoughts (even if through gritted teeth...)

Actually, I can't even really plug the turntable direct to the Sonos Amp as the left and right channels are via weird single prong plugs. There may be some sort of adapter but that also may be best first discussed with the speciality shop.
As you can see, I have no idea what I am doing here.

First thing you'll need is some really expensive speaker wire

I'm happy to throw money at the cartridge - I want it to sound as good as possible (within my constraints). Amp is a Kenwood KA-4002.
Also turns out the Left and Right channel out of the turntable look to be just RCA plugs, just kinda weird looking ones!
