Lol you're the ones losing your mind over a guy pointing out that your kind actually arrests people who call people names! Why are you like this?

Stop trying to guess what I'm really thinking, and for once deal with the substance of the arguments.

And be more respectful!
Deomcrats/progressives are idiots. We pushed Al Franken out of the fucking way!

Im not disagreeing with you. I think you do come across as a little hysterical that this is some major rampant problem with free speech being trampled on. Get off the internet, there are weirdos out there spewing shit all over the place and not getting arrested!

It's like Burt and Dime have these arguments with people on Reddit or Twitter. Or get fed this very specific content that just riles them up. They then come to RM and continue those same arguments with different people ....as if...

I get it now!

I don't care how I come across. there is in fact, an increasing problem with free speech being trampled on. This isn't the internet. This is actual, real world consequences. Just as much or more than any of the other dumb shit we talk about. The reason it doesn't seem important to you is because you have nothing interesting or dangerous or outside the overton window to say.

Or maybe you should stop worrying about what Elon Musk is doing and go outside!

Leave me out of this.
There are very very few explanations as to why a forum like this can’t exist (and it has for decades now) without two accounts appearing in every single fucking thread no matter how innocuous and run riot with constant bullshit politics and culture war nonsense.
Constantly.

Just wait til you see see the new andor arrives.

Why are they allowed though?

We're in a politics thread talking about politics (as if our lives depend on it even though none of us have any actual power to do anything about it,) and then some guy wanders in and says, "go outside!"

Very disrespectful!

You go outside!

I only watched one episode of Andor, but it's clearly the only shining light in the turgid sewer that is Disney Star Wars.

But now I'm going to hate on it extra hard!

Last I checked all those countries rank far higher on any quality of life scales than the US does.

I really don't think they need Team America World Police's help combating their apparent woke-uprisings.

But yeah, great vid. JD's really owning those leftist pussies.
Yes, I do think a lot of people feel that their actual rights are being trampled, which is why your parties are losing popularity, despite every effort to make voting for anyone else illegal.

I don't much give a shit about what you do in your countries. You do you. My problem, as I said, is that stupid shit being imported here. No fucking thanks. Maybe you, being a big fan of the nanny state, don't mind loss of freedoms so long as your material comfort is preserved, but we are not the same.
I get that the right is rising across the globe and that's whatever it is. Sign of the times, a natural change of direction as constantly occurs, though probably mostly incumbent governments being pushed aside due to simple economics of people pissed off about their money not going as far as it once did. But don't give me this tough guy bullshit. It's pretty embarrassing tbh.

And you seem to have decided I am some huge fan of the nanny state - you've said it to me on numerous occasions. I'm too old for it, never been a fan. Personally I'd like the government to leave me the fuck alone. But I don't care if that's what you think, have at it.

I get it - Trump's your guy and he's cleaning house. USA USA. But when you post that shit referencing the EU or wherever it's pretty rank. Like you know the first thing about the struggles of going through occupation or having your homelands forcibly taken from you.

But I guess you'd just say "you should be tougher" or "you should be spending more on defence". It's always nice looking at other people's problems from a position of such privilege and power.

Your frame of reference and mine are very very different Burt. I find some of the shit you post really offensive. But whatever. Free Speech for you and all that.

thanks for capitalizing it.

You're in a thread about the president of the United States despite not living here. It seems a little silly that you take umbrage at me criticizing the idiocy coming out of Europe in return. I don't think it takes a lot of toughness to point out the gaping problems that a lot of Europe has with actual free speech. Luckily there are a few people there who do actually think it's a problem as well.

For the record, if there were a million dollars on the line and I had to choose between “Burt is a free speech true believer” and “Burt would support speech restrictions if the right people or speech were targeted,” no way am I picking the former.

You are frequently openly joyous when politicians use their power to restrain or punish the press, because you see the press as deserving of it. I doubt you give two shits about the White House banning a news organization for refusing to call it The Gulf of America, either….it has all your favorite hallmarks: first, it doesn’t affect you….and second, you don’t like the person or group being targeted. By the magic of just those two things, you cease to care at all if a person in power uses government to punish someone for saying the wrong thing.
