A right-wing nationalist project that drapes itself in the language of socialism without fundamentally redistributing the means of production, where have we seen this before?

They did not report whether or not the producer tapped that. Dude shot his shot, might have gotten lucky.

This is the thing everyone figured we'd do if China invaded Taiwan to try to prevent them from capitalizing on TSMC (as well as probably get as many of the technicians and engineers out as possible). We are now trying to freeze China out of high end microchips after their big home grown initiative failed. What's the significance of this development/ timing?

Fizzled out. Some inability to scale, some corruption and some folks went to jail. They never got that close to developing all the input technologies without specialized western tech.

Has Biden been harping on this? Seems like they implemented it without a ton of fanfare. Not sure how this wins him any votes. Populist righties have been harping on re-shoring industry since Perot/ Buchanan.

That said, many of the people freaking out about Trump's 'trade war' are being rather sanguine on this. This is more significant than tariffs.

Hopefully the Chinese don't retaliate with anything crazy. Not saying this was a bad call, just hope this is part of a larger serious effort to re-shore other industries because we've seen how unreliable China can be and how they act against almost all of our interests.

It's only racist when Republicans do it.
