To be "effective" you'd need to ban all semi automatic weapon. Is that what we are discussing?

Pump action (or bolt action?) non semiautomatic AR-15s exist.

So long as firearms are defined as they are currently, the modular types where the 'firearm' part is defined as some bit with the serial number, you can reconfigure them with the non serialized parts to whatever you like.

It's like banning Millennium Falcon Lego kits but allowing all the relevant bricks to be sold individually. You'd have to amend the NFA to redefine what a firearm is.

Have measures that annoy and inconvenience gun owners without making a dent. Are they trying to reduce "gun violence" or underlining that the outgroup is icky?

In Philadelphia, PA, on Saturday night, 3 were killed and 12 injured after multiple shooters fired into a crowd in a popular nightlife area on South Street, according to the AP.

Early Sunday in Chattanooga, TN, 3 were killed and 14 injured near a nightclub, according to local police.

Similar incidents were also registered in several other states, such as Arizona and Georgia. Shootings traditionally begin to increase during the summer, but the bloodshed this weekend is especially notable given that it comes as the country is still reeling from the massacres in Buffalo, Uvalde, and Tulsa.
