I dont believe in clutchness per say but there are definitely guys who shit the bed in those situations. The cubs aren't clutch theyre just too naieve to be scared of the moment.

I figured people would pick Ortiz or Jeter. I once looked at those two players' yearly OPS in high-leverage situations vs. the same season's overall OPS. The year-to-year variance was pretty hilarious. They both had year where they were great, years where their high-leverage numbers lined up with their overall numbers, and years where they coked all season. You know why that is? Because even the clutchiest of clutch hitters have almost no control over how they perform in various situations.

Like Chud said, it's a matter of sample size. A few hits in big situations can make the numbers look amazing.
