China and the rest of the goddamn planet.E.H. Ruddock wrote:There is no way he nukes North Korea. He may strike them where it takes out their nuke/ICBM capabilities, but not with a nuke. I'm sure, although not publicly, China has let him know the consequences of a nuke being detonated that close to their border.

No, I mean that even if a conflict breaks out, and somehow both sides manage not to use nukes, there will still be a lot of dead people outside of north korea.E.H. Ruddock wrote:Why would we destroy Seoul? Do you mean Pyongyang?cutuphalfdead wrote:You don't need nukes to destroy Seoul.
I'm sure this debate has already occurred here. There were large swaths of the military ready for a coup should the civilian leadership capitulate after the first bomb was dropped. Of course its hard to argue against a counterfactual, but it seems that many Japanese, even civilians were ready to fight to the death or commit suicide prior to conquest.dimejinky99 wrote:He might be playing a master game. The US never needed to drop the bomb on Japan. They should have just shown Japan they could with some mid Atlantic display of strength.
Maybe he's doing that.
Everyone knows NK is not and never will be a legitimate threat to the US. South Korea maybe. But that's it.
You dont think, just a little bit, that a small part of Trump is more excited about the fact he can Nuke someone and will do it? He is a manchild and gets off being some sort of powerful superhero of sorts. Look at the way he sits on firetrucks. Would the military complex rather use conventional weapons as a means for profit? Yea, probably. But Trump?BurtReynolds wrote:Trump's not gonna nuke anyone. Conventional weapons are much more profitable.
Trump did weirdly take credit for a survey about upgrading older warheads, which started under the obama administration. We will need to build new warheads or retrofit old ones if we want to continue to have credible nuclear deterrence.BurtReynolds wrote:Trump's not gonna nuke anyone. Is he going om vacation? Having surgery or something like that?
