I've walked those cliffs. Man I can't imagine what the family is going through.

How tragic - no family should have to go through this.

Rockin' out to some NCBS this week, and I have two questions:
1. Do you all think Nick will ever get back to writing/performing music in the traditional way that he's been doing it for the past 30 years? (albums, tours, etc.)
2. If he does, what the fuck will that music be like?

New album coming in September. It's going to premiere on September 8th as an album film sort of deal, then out as an album September 9th. No title or song info yet.
That's good to hear. I was a little bit concerned the Bad Seeds might be over after his son's death. I wonder how that's going to affect the music.

I can't even fucking imagine. Any other artist, I might imagine it would change their mood dramatically--but Cave's music was already so sinisterly brooding that I dunno where else he could go.

The new album is called Skeleton Tree:
NEW ALBUM LAUNCHING WITH FEATURE FILM
Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds’ sixteenth studio album, Skeleton Tree, will be out on 9th September 2016.
The first opportunity to hear any of the songs from the album will be to watch One More Time With Feeling, directed by Andrew Dominik (Chopper, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, Killing Them Softly). The film will screen in cinemas across the world on 8th September 2016, immediately prior to the release of Skeleton Tree the following day.
Originally a performance based concept, One More Time With Feeling evolved into something much more significant as Dominik delved into the tragic backdrop of the writing and recording of the album. Interwoven throughout the Bad Seeds’ filmed performance of the new album are interviews and footage shot by Dominik, accompanied by Cave’s intermittent narration and improvised rumination. Filmed in black-and-white and colour, in both 3D and 2D.
Skeleton Tree began its journey in late 2014 at Retreat Studios, Brighton, with further sessions at La Frette Studios, France in autumn 2015. The album was mixed at AIR Studios, London in early 2016.
