Had never been to a heavy show before. My wife and I were front row, because we always try to be front row. First few songs were awesome. Then all the drunken dumbshits in the audience started moshing and made the show totally intolerable. We left before it even ended. I was so pissed; it was a terrible experience.

I spent way too much time on this, but why the hell not.

Some takeaways:
* I've really slowed down in the past few years. I have more money, but I have less patience for club shows and I don't have many people with whom I go to shows. The shows I have seen in the past few years have been killer, though.
* I've seen Queens of the Stone Age 3 times and they've been the opening act all three times (I listened to them from outside the arena waiting for my NIN ticket in 2005). They were amazing with Nick and Mark.
* There are quite a few shows I could have and should have gone to, among them:

* Quite a few of these shows were free, or free for me. I am a very lucky man.
* MusicFest2009 was incredible: Explosions in the Sky, The Dirty Three, Sunny Day Real Estate (!!!), Mudhoney, Titus Andronicus and Modest Mouse. I'll never see another lineup that insane, and particularly not for $30.
* Bands I cannot believe I've never seen: The Cure, U2, The White Stripes, Rage Against the Machine. I had my chances with all of them but it just never happened.
* I've been lucky enough to clearly hear quite a few soundchecks, including two from Radiohead.
* I could never see another concert and die a happy man.

Did you catch Local H's set when you saw Helmet? Their last album really reignited my love for them.

Sure did! I never skip openers. I thought their set was fun but a little samey and overlong. My wife loves 'em, though - she saw them headline in 2004/5.

There's no way I could ever come up with a complete list.

I've always kept track of them as I go to them, so no memory is required.

There's a period of like two years where I was going to a show almost every single weekend, and that destroys any chance of coming up with an accurate and thorough list
