I remember i had such an argument with Plat about Meryl Streep and the oscars.
Do you remember who won the argument?
Well it wasnt even an argument for me. I was joking and he took it personal. I think i told him something like hey im going out tonight take care! and he took it worse.

I miss that kid.
This is probably stupid but I never would have pegged him for a Meryl supporter.

I told something along like "fuck meryl and the oscars¨ and he was all crazy serious about how ¨she won 2 oscars and everyone love her YOU KNOOOWWW? ¨

Pretty funny guy.

Anyway, I adore Parker Posey. But if I'm honest... she's not Meryl Streep.

I really wish I could chalk this up to objective vs subjective. But Meryl Streep's superior talent is just a fact. Sorry, guys. Like whichever one more that you want. This isn't debatable, though.

I like Meryl Streep. She's obviously an excellent actor. I just don't find her particularly compelling, which probably has something to do with her mostly terrible role choices. On the other hand, Posey commands the screen in any role.

Of course you know I was joking -- well, I hope you know -- in the above post. Both are wonderful actresses. Posey is dynamic and memorable. But she has nowhere near the depth of Meryl Streep. Posey's definitely more bonkers though. So I totally get why you're more compelled by her.

Do you think Streep could pull off a wacked-out performance like Posey in Blade: Trinity?

I haven't seen that movie, but I 100% absolutely believe Meryl could do anything. I believe she could be as wacked-out as the best of them. Yes. There are few people in the world, in any industry, practicing any craft, that are as good at what they do, as completely head to toe brilliant, as Meryl Streep is in her field.

She's made some terrible movies, but she's never been terrible in them. She turns chicken shit into chicken salad time and time again. Her depth and breadth continue to blow my mind.

On the flip side, I don't think Parker Posey could play Julia Child, for example, like Meryl. Posey is gifted and infinitely interesting and I wish she was in more stuff. But she doesn't have that kind of range. Or, rather, if she does, I've never seen it.

Really? I can pretty easily imagine Meryl owning that shit.

But I'm still glad it was Parker in that part. I really liked what she did with it.
