Fucking appalling. I cannot stand it and find myself hate listening to it
I tried listening to this recent ep because Nathan Hamill was on. I couldn't finish it. I skipped around for a while and then had to shut it off.

Imagine sitting there complaining about Luke in the last Jedi. To the actors actors son.

And the moron was wrong more often than not

I didn’t like the force Skype call it’s too sci fi

VADER AND LUKE DID IT IN EMPIRE!! RIAN JUST FOUND A BETTER WAY TO SHOOT IT

that Fernandez guy is the embodiment of entitled middle aged man. And he has a platform.
He’s literally the worst imaginable.

The force skype call was poorly handled in TLJ compared to the Luke/Vader scene.

Everything else you said I agree with or have no opinion on (Fernandez).

There isn't an eyeroll big enough for that guy

How artistically conservative it’s become.

I would agree with this, but The Last Jedi was "conservative" in the story choices.

I really don’t think it was. It was shocking. It wasn’t conservative though.

TLJ wanted to be new and fresh but also still be Star Wars, and it discovered for itself just how few steps away from the known, branded path it takes for the filmmaker and audience to both start squirming.

Well that sounds like the blame here then is on the fanbase and not "star wars".

My most honest answer is that outside of the first three movies it’s all a bunch of generic science fiction cartoon, so how could any of it be shameful? You can’t really shame “ordinary.”

Damnit, I meant to say it was NOT conservative.

The fanbase isn’t SW.

OT: moves made by GL, et al that turned people into "fans"

ST and beyond (tv, cartoons, etc): Fans become the "creator".

That can be debated on whether or not story changes from tFA to TLJ to TROS had anything to do with fan displeasure and/or satisfaction.

THe first example of this is when GL added the story of the Fetts in attack of the clones, and lessened the role of Jar Jar. Was this done because his story demanded it, or because of fan displeasure of Jar Jar and fanfic desires for Fett integration?

Too much SW has diluted the SW universe.

That’s 1000% fair, durd, but those first three movies are informed by 70s movie design, characterization, and pacing. Like the first two Superman movies, they are total cartoons informed by the context of an era of movie making that loved people, their reasons to hope and doubt, and considering the cost of their idealism.

Everything Star Wars that came afterwards uses those components, even appreciates them, but ultimately sees them as colorizations for the splendor, drama, and sparkle. This is not an accusation. You just can’t make the same Star Wars in the area when Dog Day Afternoon and the Deer Hunter are top ten box office hits that you can 25 years after Terminator 2. Same as you can’t make the same Rocky in 1985 as you did in 1976. It’s just a different kind of cartoon, a different audience, and a different amount of patience.

And I still stand by my summary: after those three movies, it’s all candy. It can’t shame you or be embarrassing, because the very reasons candy might be shameful are the same reasons that it’s fucking great.

When you break a thing down to find out it’s element parts you lose something and sight of what makes it great.

In no way would I want new Star Wars movies that were a redo of those originals. If that were even possible.
Lotta kids today don’t even like the originals and rebels and the prequels etc are their Star Wars.

Don’t agree at all that they have the same design, characterisation and pacing. They’re in the same bloodline but in no way the same template.
This is evidenced by many people complaints about them not being an exact copy/ enough like the originals for their taste

What about the weird racial stereotypes in the prequels?
