I think it might be a top 5 King book for me.
I’d probably agree with that. Having not really read anything new by him in the last 15 years.
I know we have a Stephen King thread but I'd say off the top of my head...

1. Salem's Lot
2. 11/22/63
3. The Dark Tower (if I'm allowed to call all of them one book)
4. Lisey's Story
5. Needful Things

Also, did you catch the Salem's Lot reference in the last episode (ep 8) of Castle Rock?

See? I’ve not even read two of those. And agree with the other three.

Holy shit! I just remembered something.
Spoiler: show
The Kid told Henry he’d been waiting 27 years. That’s also the frequency of which Pennywise appears.

I sure did. That was sweet.

How about the subtle nod to the Dark Tower in ep 7?

I love their subtle nods to the Tower.
Spoiler: show
I'm positive that the "voice of god" is the same a s thinny. And I think there's a good chance that that is the key to unlocking the mystery of this season.

So,
Spoiler: show
was black kid Henry trapped for 27 years, too. They indicated he’d been there for a while, but I didn’t catch any particular time mentioned.

Who was the girl with the knife out in the woods?

Obviously, there is a doorway out in the woods.

Some nice references to Deloris Claiborne, Needful Things and Pet Sematary.

Also,
Spoiler: show
why does black Henry not recognize The Kid?

Yes, 27 years.

The girl in the woods with the knife is the French settler that Matthew Deaver talked about on one of his micro-tapes. They were some of the first settlers to Castle Rock in the 1500s (or something like that). She killed and ate her family to stay alive.

And I think Our World Henry Deaver does recognize Other World Henry Deaver (The Kid) but can't place him. The trauma of being in a cage for 27 years and then coming home to a dead father and everything that's happened since has caused some psychic distress. He doesn't remember a lot from his childhood. He blocked a lot and now we know why. Also, I think there's something to "getting out" of Castle Rock. Those that leave are sort of able to shake off the place, if you get my meaning.

For something that King is essentially hands-off on, this series is SO King. I love this show and have no idea what’s going to happen in the last episode.

I love how "Kingian" it feels, yeah. They've done a great job with that. I have a few ideas on how this ends but I'm not 100% on anything. It's been a fun ride. Hopefully, they can stick the landing.

Really? I liked it but I thought it was exactly what they'd set up. It was loaded with exposition and easy connections. Again, super well executed but not surprising. I wanted something really unexpected. Honestly, I actually liked the previous episode more which I know is an unpopular opinion. But I loved it.
