I am kind of on the fence about Almodovar. Just something about his aesthetic and overall tone and recurring themes just doesn't connect with me. I remember liking All About My Mother and Talk to Her when I watched them, but it's been a while. Everything else I've seen of his, I've reacted to with indifference or mild annoyance

I also vaguely resent how he's become kind of the go-to Spanish language director in the international stage. Really, that guy? OK!
