Gameplay looks smoothe and much improved. Gonna go ahead and jump in this year after taking a break last year.

NBA 2k23 Championship Edition comes with the game, bonuses, and a year subscription to League Pass (normally $199) for only $150. A great deal.

Downloaded the Madden trial through EA Play. There’s a new passing system that’s a little trickier but they still give you the option of doing it the other way.

There's a lot to take in with this new madden and I haven't had a lot of time with it. I had played a few online matches, winning all but one, not being great with the controls or feel yet. But last night I decided to go through the training and drill exercises to improve, and I'm liking it more the more I get used to it. This is definitely the best, most realistic looking and feeling Madden I've ever played. Receivers attempt to stay in bounds on sideline throws and running backs get skinny through holes, QBs are less accurate under pressure, CPU controlled defenses are smarter, etc.
The new passing system doesn't really feel novel to me. You basically just have the option of aiming a little more accurately where you want to place the ball. If you want to throw down and to the left, you press down and to the left. I guess in previous iterations it wasn't as accurate, but I've always played QB that way in video games.
I could care less about franchise, MUT, or other modes for now. It's really just a lot of fun to play a mostly realistic game of NFL football with my favorite team. I'm happy with it.

2k23 seems to have fixed some of the legacy issues in the first two next gen iterations. Still way too much VC-laden gimmicks/upgrades, but the core gameplay is noticeably better/smoother. The Jordan Challenge is super cool. I will also try the MyEra mode.

I was debating buying this...it's probably been over a decade since I've played a proper sports game. Used to be an NBA fanatic back in the day. All the gimmicky shit turned me off to these games years ago but if the core gameplay (e.g., just playing a normal f'ing 4Q game of Bball) is fun, smooth, and pretty, I may hop back on the wagon.

22 was fun but with one of the patches along the way shooting became so difficult it lost me

I told my oldest if he could do 20 pullups I'd buy him 2k23 for the PS5. He seemed to struggle doing just 3 before the bet. I didn't think he could do it but he banged 20 out like it was his job. It was an obvious con job but a bets a bet. I played as the '83 Celtics it was fun.

The Show is including Negro League legends this year, which is very cool; no sign of the GOAT (Josh Gibson) in any of the announcements yet, but hopefully he'll be added in a later program:

With Zelda coming out soon I think I’m gonna wait a year and then get The Show next season. Or maybe after beating Zelda. Great way for my kids to learn more about the details of the sport.

Hoping the new PGA Tour is good. I want to play at Augusta on a next gen console. 30 courses at launch is insane.

The new mlb the show is awful.. only reason to play is the negro league mode
They made it to the point where it's impossible to get a hit.. I hate how these sports games cater to e sports people
