I'd guess Monroe didn't like it too much.

I honestly don't remember this episode. I remember watching the show when I was a kid, but have hardly any recollection of any specifics from it. Ted Knight is a god among men, however.

When I think of Growing Pains & "very special episode" I think of Sandy (played by then unknown Matthew Perry) dying. I think he was the boyfriend of the daughter.
