Ed’s voice would sound ridiculous over that Simmons music clip.

I cannot even remotely picture it. Never in a million years (well probably in a million years. that's a long time) would I have guessed that is pearl jam.

which, of course, it may not be

it's either them or bill simmons' 11 year old son, who he sometimes will play music clips of too. that would be really funny.

and if it's them, i think it's pretty clearly an intro, perhaps before the music goes other places.

the more i think about it, the more that's gotta be PJ.

if you're not familiar with simmons' pod, he starts off almost every one with a preamble and then he gets into the rest of the show with, "but first... pearl jam." and then live corduroy plays as an intro of sorts.

this time he says, "but first... new music."

matching that with the dark, new wave, synths, etc description we've heard and this has gotta be it. sounds like we might truly be in for a surprise.

Guys that’s entirely the song! Absolutely Jeff’s bass and a sample of Matt’s kick. I’m super excited for this.

This, exactly. He starts every podcast with them. Gotta be the new song.

Me too.

I’m intrigued where this is headed.
This sounds like it’s from the mind of Matt Cameron.

more than anything, i want something that makes me perk up and say "what the fuck is this?"

if i can get that sense of even slight discovery from a band 30 years into their existence, we are on the right track.

i could see that being jeff too, with some of his funkier RNDM energy.

I did think of Tame Impala when I heard it, and they are also releasing a new album.

it's different so that's a good thing; sounds a little like R.E.M.

hopefully - if that is a sampling of the album it will take a listen or two just to transition into a space where i can hear it for what it is rather than what i expect pj to be

Maybe mike was forced to release that statement as penance for him almost quitting the band over this album. It ass probably a dark time for him because there wasn’t space for him to rip meaty solos and run around the stage

I can’t wait to hear this song.

I don’t why I just have a good feeling.
