Gave this a 3 but after a couple more listens it's easily a 4. Should make a sweet live opener, sorta like a less sparse/condensed Long Road.

I'm not quite as hot on this as others seem to be -- it definitely sounds great (The Notwist is a good comparison!), but the melody isn't totally tying together for me, and Jeff's lyrics are intrusively bad in some places. I'll keep at it but I worry it may be a case of "Pendulum" syndrome for me.

Haha I don't think I'm changing my vote (in this thread), gave it 4 stars, but I did change my vote in two others.

To listen for a heartbeat
It’s your own
It’s alright to quiet up
To disappear in thin air
It’s your own

Should your living truth die
Could be an acid trip
Leave the eucharist whole
Keep it for yourself

If you tire of the game
Hit the road towards the clouds
Find the groove in the sound
Keep it for yourself

i think these lyrics are pretty bad. like 6th-grade poem, chris martin bad. but this song is really, really good. I'm not sure how that works.

Only Eddie should be allowed to write lyrics. Jeff or Stone can occasionally produce a good line, but not a whole song

They may be, but it just works because Ed emotes them perfectly and they're surrounded by such a lush arrangement. Just don't focus on the specific words and appreciate the entire piece.

It's the only 5 star song on this album for me (right now).

The lyrics are a bit....on the nose? I dont know the term im looking for. But the ol' "heart on the sleeve, yoga teaching, mountain living hippie strat" really fucking loves it.

These aren't great by any means, but they're definitely better than quite a few Eddie songs. He's not that untouchable as a lyricist.

But this is a great, slippery song. It's hard to get a handle on it (in a good way), which matches my feelings on the record thus far.

The other thing I kind of find magical about this piece is how it bridges DOTC to 7 O'Clock. I think I just appreciate it more in the context of the album.
