Gave this a 3 but after a couple more listens it's easily a 4. Should make a sweet live opener, sorta like a less sparse/condensed Long Road.
Haha I don't think I'm changing my vote (in this thread), gave it 4 stars, but I did change my vote in two others.stip wrote:no. live with your failure!
i think these lyrics are pretty bad. like 6th-grade poem, chris martin bad. but this song is really, really good. I'm not sure how that works.LawrenceOrbach wrote:You can’t hide the lies

If your heart still beats free
Keep it for yourself
When you want to run
And leave some part unrevealed
Like the flight of the bee
Keep it for yourself
It’s alright to be alone
To listen for a heartbeat
It’s your own
It’s alright to quiet up
To disappear in thin air
It’s your own
Should your living truth die
Could be an acid trip
Leave the eucharist whole
Keep it for yourself
If you tire of the game
Hit the road towards the clouds
Find the groove in the sound
Keep it for yourself
It’s alright to say no
Be a disappointment in your own home
It’s alright to turn it off
Ignore the rules of the state
It’s your own
It’s alright to shut it down
Disappear in thin air
It’s your home
It’s alright to be alone
To listen for a heartbeat
It’s your own
You can't hide your eyes
They may be, but it just works because Ed emotes them perfectly and they're surrounded by such a lush arrangement. Just don't focus on the specific words and appreciate the entire piece.Chris_H_2 wrote:i think these lyrics are pretty bad. like 6th-grade poem, chris martin bad. but this song is really, really good. It's the only 5 star song on this album for me (right now).
These aren't great by any means, but they're definitely better than quite a few Eddie songs. He's not that untouchable as a lyricist.stip wrote:Only Eddie should be allowed to write lyrics. Jeff or Stone can occasionally produce a good line, but not a whole song
