It's funny; so many people complain about Riot Act sounding tired and defeated (a weak criticism), but we've left ourselves with the most tired and defeated songs on the tracklist. I'm voting "Pilate" for now, just because it would be amusing to have it sit in the middle of this playlist.

Do people not enjoy LBC? Except for the title and some lyrics I love that song.

I got into Pearl Jam at the end of the Binaural era and I felt like this song was a turning point. In fact, I think the narrative of Ed meeting Boom and living a creative epiphany took the band on a healing journey.

It's an album about healing and this song pinpoint that. Teenage me always liked those lyrics : " And the young they can lose hope cause they can see beyond today ".

I think it is middle of the pack Riot Act, an album I really love

I just think the notion of having it in the "Ultimate" album is really funny. I feel the same way about "Marker in the Sand," but I don't really like that one.

I like it just fine, though not as much as when it first came out, and I'd rather have "Dance" or "No Way" in the 3 spot. I don't think "LBC" fits in with the tracklist developed so far.

Big fan of the movie except for the plot and some characters.

I don't think that's fair. There are lots of people -- myself included -- who put lyrics a distant second to musical composition, production, performance, and "vibe."

Can we add Santana ft. Rob Thomas' Smooth as the hidden track?

When have I ever given you the impression that I'd like to be fair?

This is fair.

But I actually really love both songs. Both (but especially Marker) might actually make a legit "Ultimate" mix that I'd happily share. Marker is still my favorite song from S/T. And I think LBC is an important piece, autobiographically, as it relates to who they are, where they came from, and where they were when they made Riot Act.

I definitely think it sounds tired and defeated/exhausted, but S/T made it clear that this was a choice

They are not dissimilar songs, so it kind of surprises me that I love one and dislike the other. That's really lyrics in the end
