That said the audio quality is waaay better than the shitty MP3s I had twenty years ago.
Didn’t they play RITFW twice during this set?

The Unplugged show never really did much for me. Black is good. It’s funny looking back now and seeing someone think that writing on their arm would make a difference.

its easy to be cynical. i 100% agree with strat. mtv was a big platform at the time, i'm sure it had this effect on a lot of people.

I had no idea what Ed was writing on his arm but I knew he was angry about some of the right things, and "pro-choice" / "my body my choice" etc. proved to be influential in ways I couldn't have foreseen

it felt like the kind of big, sweeping, ‘music can say something’ kind of statement I had never seen before. It made everything about the band feel more important

In hindsight, wasn’t he just mansplaining on a topic he’s not supposed to have an opinion on?

Watching the tv show at the time, I was bothered that you could see the writing under his sleeve during the song before Porch, making the song sequencing edit obvious.

no, because 1) he wasn't "speaking" to women / a woman in particular, but to his general audience, 2) I don't remember if he spoke at all, I only remember the writing on his arm, but in any case, saying "I support something" is not mansplaining, it's allyship

this was always weird, but how do you not end the show with 'porch'? especially since they cut 'ritfw'

Let’s hope they one day release a deluxe edition with the whole show, in order. I could swear I have heard it and there was nothing bad or embarrassing there. Can’t recall if the encore is something I heard. I don’t recall hearing Garden or Leash unplugged before.

True and I shouldn’t assume Ed’s intentions anyway.

Arrested Development and Mariah Carey were filmed the same day? I didn’t know they even did that.

I’m sure Beth has the tapes.
