no fucking way!
But he meets your criteria!
He’s a flash in the pan who will be inconsequential in 100 years
Name one rock front(wo)man who will be talked about in 100 years!

In a way the emergence of Grunge/Alternative Rock signaled the end of the Frontman/woman icon type. The excess was just not there anymore, it was a more "serious" time even marketed as such(MTV Unplugged for instance).

David Lee Roth and the other icons of the late 60's/70's reveled in the fame and there was a larger than life quality to many of them. I think this is why Dave Grohl does not fit. "There goes my hero, he's ordinary".

And the danger of the 70's rock experience had gone away. Grohl never claimed to be dangerous and had to play the "normal guy that jokes around" as the public had gotten sick of the druggie frontman who just complains about fame.

Saw VR at the Quest. That was a pretty great show.
I was at that show as well. Balcony railing parallel with the front of the stage. Incredible show. Shitty venue if you didn’t get a good spot. Saw Audioslave there as well. Oh yeah, Cornell should be on this list.
