This will be my first new release experience with Big Thief. I've listened to some albums here and there since the inception of this band but I think I'm ready to dive deeper. Glowing reviews from both dad and CH today have nudged me.

this made me think of the most recent Seinfeld episode we watched--Season 6, ep. 24.
Frank Costanza's foot odor problem.

this one is very good, and it being 80 min doesn't bother me in the slightest.

Honest question guys. Do you feel there has been a change in their sound or their approach?
I ask as I've heard two of their albums before and they gave me the shits (with the exception of Not). I found them a little twee and pastoral (for lack of a better term). I've heard 5 songs of the new one and I quite enjoyed all 5. I wonder if it's me shifting or them. Interesting development overall.

i was just listening to the newest Indiecast podcast, and Steven Hyden mentioned how this album (which he believes is the best album in the past 2-3 years) sounds like the band almost made an effort to make a truly great record.

i've listened maybe a handful of times, and the intro always makes me laugh, specifically when Hyden asks Ian Cohen how he's doing, and you always hear the most meandering ass thing.

Main host with Ian Cohen. They geek out pretty hard.

Cool.
I wondered whatever happened to him after Celebration Rock. I didn't know he had a new pod.

I think pretty much every record they've done has been outstanding (I'm not going to hear the new one until later tonight). I thought the last record (Two Hands) was a bit spottier than all of their other albums, though it does have Not, which is a top 2 or 3 song from the band. In terms of them being twee or pastoral, I feel like they actually started in the other direction; Masterpiece and Capacity are more straight-ahead rock albums, compared to their two 2019 records, and everything from this album that I've heard so far has been fairly acoustic and laid-back. But again, I'm saying this in ignorance of what the rest of the new record is like.

the Sennheisser HD598s are the official headphone of RM. But you might be better off with a different model at this point. Jorge will know more.

I don't know that I've ever listened to an album where I've heard so many singles before the whole thing dropped, so the sequencing is throwing me for a loop. But fuck this one is good. Been a long time since I anticipated an album release date. Flower of Blood is fantastic.

I'm listening later, but I do like that almost all the singles (which I've listened to) are primarily in the front. I'll be able to listen to all of those songs and still have an entire record's worth of music left.

I'm holding myself back from making a glorified_version post in this thread. Big Thief remain my favorite band on the planet.
