If anyone is interested in Bose equipment (I know some people have a love/hate with Bose), and are in the market for new headphones or speakers, let me know**. I have a 30-40% discount at work.

Re: Turntables and Stereo Equipment
I'm diving back into turntables after my friend bought me the 6-LP edition of Mogwai's Central Belters.
I went with the Edifier R1700BTs and the silver AT-LP120.
The LP120 seemed like a no-brainer.
It'll be weird to have speakers without binding posts.

Re: Turntables and Stereo Equipment
I ended up changing directions.
Ordered the KEF Q100s and an amp that'll switch between analog and digital sources, then went with the cheaper AT-LP60.
This way I can have the TV running through the amp for movies and streaming from Play Music.
It's about $100 more, but I know the KEFs are great and the amp has it's own DAC.
Also, I really only have a handful of records right now. Once a get a few more, I can upgrade to the LP120 or something else.

Re: Turntables and Stereo Equipment
I'd suggest this. The huge downside with the LP-60 is that it doesn't have a weight on the tone arm--you can buy an amazing cart to help improve sound quality, but you won't be able to adjust the weight on the arm to the manufacturer's suggested setting. If you've got any rare LPs you want to play forever, maybe hold off on spinning them too much.run2death wrote: Also, I really only have a handful of records right now. Re: Turntables and Stereo Equipment
Would this be a better option? $100 cheaper than the AT-120.
I know AT seems to be the preferred brand around here, but this has the weighted tone arm and also has a Texas Instruments pre-amp, which was in my old beloved Yamaha stereo receiver.
I also like the look of it.
I guess it doesn't play 78s.

Ill throw in 20 bucks to help you get the LP120. You may not have a lot of records now but you will soon. ive seen it time and time again. The itch is intense and you'll end up with more records soon enough.run2death wrote:Would this be a better option? $100 cheaper than the AT-120.

I think its wise to start with a decent table right off the bat and the lp120 can last you for years upon years. Its such a perfect entry level table that allows for substantial upgrades.

I've been using the AT-60 for 5+ years now and love it. It sounds great and has taken a beating from my daughter falling into it, slamming books and cups down on the lid, etc. Never had any issues with it. My ears are shit, though (team "laurel").
I have this guy in my fancy listening room but almost never use it because who has time for that?

Thanks, fellas.
Yeah, I'll probably just suck it up and buy the LP-120.

It's been steady and reliable for the few years I've had it so far. I haven't had to deal with customer service but they are in Massachusetts and pretty easy to deal with from what I understand. You can build out something that you want rather than take whatever configuration you're given (i.e. cartridge choice, ect.)

I love mine. I didn't customize anything. Sounds great, looks great. Had it for a couple of years and nothing has fallen off yet.
