i find the self-consciousness of a show like justified, which i only saw a bit of, way more distracting than it is in saul. but i can't say if that is a problem throughout the series or if it's leveraged into a strength

I’ve been very slowly making my way thru Columbo. I’m only about 4 episodes in.

I would rather watch Columbo than any of the thread title shows besides Mad Men. Would also take any Murder She Wrote ep set in Cabot Cove.

I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I expect to be hazed for this but I’ll throw a vote to Friday Night Lights.
The only reason it can't be #1 is season 2.

Some other top shows; Band Of Brothers, True Detective, Babylon 5, Rome, Six Feet Under, Game Of Thrones.

Possibly.
Band Of Brothers - near perfect, but shorter than the other series mentioned (think I’ve seen it three times)
True Detective - first season is up there with Band Of Brothers
Babylon 5 - most underrated show in history. Once it got really going with its five season arc, it was incredible. Helped start the high quality trend on tv. No Sopranos, Six Feet Under etc., without this and Oz first. Perhaps my all time favorite show.
Rome - excellent throughout
Six Feet Under - up there with the best
Game Of Thrones - flawed at the end, but still a fantastic show. Books are even better.
I also mentioned Breaking Bad. Think it’s unique in only getting better as it went along, with the best last season I’ve seen, almost the opposite of Game Of Thrones.
