I really liked that Wax Ecstatic song when I was in sixth grade, taped it off the radio but never got around to grabbing the entire album.
In college, I discovered the Didjits and their album Hornet Pinata. It had the song Killboy Powerhead that the Offspring covered on Smash. This was the original and it blew my mind. So much so I ended up going though a bit of rabbit hole of midwestern punk. Anway, just listen to the Didjits.

I saw Sponge in '98 as part of some tour that included Iggy Pop as the headliner, and a 90s band I would come to enjoy as years went on - the Reverend Horton Heat. Fun day.
One of my stronger memories of getting 90s albums was the holidays in 1994 when I got both Vitalogy (on vinyl) and Weezer's first self titled album. Chanukah came early so the CD version of the former had not been released yet. I made a cassette tape from the vinyl and felt like the coolest kid in school for about 2 weeks.

i have their 4th also, and while not as strong as rotting or new pop sunday it still has some good catchy tunes on it. suicide away, dandelions roar and treat me wrong still get a listen from me from time to time on the random playlist
The only Sponge CD that survived my journey into adulthood is "Wax Ecstatic." The title track, "Have You Seen Mary," and "My Baby Said" are all great tunes. I really liked "New Pop Sunday" in high school but I haven't heard it in probably 11-12 years.

go back and re-listen to Rotting Piñata. it really is one of the most badass debut big label CDs out there
