If this happens, I hope it’s at least 4 or 5 years. I want them to tour annually and play Dark Matter and Gigaton songs for a while.

I want the opposite...strike while the irons hot. Squeeze in a few sessions this fall prior to the Aus tour then again in 2025. If Watt can get them working as fast and efficiently as he did last time no reason we can't have this thing by 2026.

This, absolutely this. Guys ain't getting any younger, I'd rather they focus more on new material over more/extensive touring...

I think that ship has sailed, and honestly all the better for it. I like "Of the Earth" quite a bit, but I don't think there's any good reason to try to bring it to the table at this point in their career. I'd rather they focus on newer ideas and maybe there's a studio take of this in the archive that could go on another odds 'n' sods collection if they do one.

For me at least, all of the appeal of "Of the Earth" was that it held some kind of promise that the band could still make songs that jammed and were infused with their live energy. Coming off Gigaton but more importantly, coming off Dark Matter, I don't think we need "Of the Earth" anymore.

They showed on Dark Matter, in more than one space, that they can incorporate that epic jam feel into a song that can also stand on its own rights as a complete composition. They scratched that Of the Earth itch to great effect in places like Upper Hand and WFS, I think. I'm with Brett and Rock Pusher on this.

Pretty sure any future recording is going to be heavily dependent upon a clearing in the Wottman's ever-increasing schedule, but, our beloved gang definitely does sound as excited about future possibilities as I've heard them in quite a long time.
