Um *pushes up glasses*

It's Dolby Atmos.

But anyway, is there any way to hear this mix if you don't have apple music? Can you hear its features in headphones or do you need one of those enterprise bridge audio rooms with a billion dollars in speakers and amplifiers? I'm curious but I'm also cheap.

I've seen this posted a few times now, and, I'm going to push back a bit on this "pure experience" stuff.

Is listening through Airpods the same as listening through a 7.1.2 speaker array with height channels installed in the ceiling?
Of course not!

I think we can all acknowledge that....but, Dolby Atmos is meant to be a flexible technology. It adapts to the equipment you have.

Everyone is receiving the same dolby atmos mix. The only difference is that those listening through headphones or earbuds are hearing said mix run through a binaural filter.

Different experience? Sure. Different mix? No

Just for clarity, Spatial Audio is merely Apple's magical branding for their Dolby Atmos implementation.

As per usual, if Apple changes the name of something, it's usually an attempt to fool at least a few into thinking that they did something first.

oneway is on point. to your original question, Amazon Music has the Atmos version of Gigaton as well. Spotify obviously doesn't, and looks like Tidal only has flac

the ten mixes are disjointed for the most part, but Even Flow sounds really cool coming in off the end of the bridge solo as it starts the transition to the final chorus.

Also its not Even Flow’s fault we heard it so many times. there is a reason it created so many fans

Tidal also has a Dolby Atmos version of Dark Matter

Anyone knows if it’s the same one as the one Apple Music has?

So I got a deal on 3 months for the price of 1 with Apple music and my wife wanted a birthday playlist with a bunch of songs I don't own so I took the plunge. The side effect being I can listen to these Atmos mixes.

I've listened to a lot of Pearl Jam in headphones and I'm pretty ok at picking out little details in the mix. These Atmos things just don't sound all that different to me. Does anyone else find them not really anything radically different from the original stereo mix?

I'm asking because I'm really curious and wonder if they're just pretty similar or maybe I just don't have the right equipment to hear the difference. I'm listening through normal (non-Apple) over the hear headphones which I'm reading is all you need. I'm never going to have a billion channel surround sound system unless some unknown uncle dies and leaves me a movie theater so this is the best it's gonna get for me.

I use Sony WH-1000XM3 headphones which are decent but not top of the line and I thought Ten, Vs, and Yield all sounded quote different.

I could hear things I never even knew were there.

So with Dolby Atmos, you're taking the band with you- they are always in front of you. With spatial, they are at a fixed point and your movement is similar to if you were walking around at an actual concert. Do I have that right?
