The blatant threesome bit was something.

Like the World Cup, I root for the US and the countries with which I have direct ties:
Mexico, France, Germany, Ireland.
Every sentence in my head, someone else has said.

I liked how they did something different with the opening ceremony this year, although it was at least an hour too long. But I'm sure people are going to remember the show for a long time whether they liked it or not, unlike many of the prior ceremonies.

It's interesting that they spent ~1,4 billion euros to clean the water of river Seine but didn't end up making sure it doesn't rain like the Chinese did in 2008 (no idea how "modifying" clouds effects the environment).

But I would've been really disappointed if I had been standing there in the rain for hours on the banks of Seine because I would've just seen a small part of the show and most of the stuff would've happened elsewhere.

Much easier to sort through what sports are on. Every event can be watched in full later if you missed something live. They also have a "Gold Zone" similar to NFL Red Zone that flips from event final to event final.

Gretchen Walsh (USA) already set an OR in the W 100 butterfly semis. She's gonna clean up.

France wins gold in Rugby 7s. Drew with the USA (?!) early on before steamrolling the rest of the comp. Seriously, they bodied the Fijians in the final.

Antoine Dupont, the best 15s player in the world, made a leap of faith switching to 7s and it paid off for him. Awesome.

France vs Hong Kong in women's fencing épée came down to a single point in overtime, with HK eventually taking gold. Pretty intense.

I fucking love the Olympics.
