I'm liking this one. I think the laid back delivery is working. And then when it kicks into the "It's Okay, Sometimes you find yourself..." it kind of has that My Morning Jacket style freak-out heaviness to it, and then the guitars cut out. I like that. I think it's a well put-together song.

I haven't heard the aforementioned Arrested Development song so I'm thanking this post for helping me remain ignorant of it.

Grade: 8.5/10 , no chance for it to go down. Up(?) - maybe.. it's a grower. I am lovin' the groove & the vocal melody.
Overall, it sounds fresh & kinda different direction for PJ. Positive surprise from Ed.

Lot's of top40 80's here. Very catchy melody that the song benefits from a lot.

This totally sounds like an Incubus song to me.

Being a huge Incubus fan myself I don't find that to be a bad thing at all and didn't hear the similarities until you pointed it out so with that I say "thank you" :-)

This songs got some balls. Its got that poppy bouncy beat but has this deep growl about it.. I just listened to it again on my surround sound in my living room on full blast and it really does have some serious balls. Great opener in my opinion!! And right now my life has been complete chaos and everyone keeps telling me to have faith and put it in Gods hands. ..and I keep feeling more like I'm gods dice and just rolling along seeing where they fall and feel like the "put all your faith in no faith" line is telling me sometimes I have to take care of shit myself and stop waiting and hoping for God to handle it like everyone keeps telling me.

To me it sounds like later Incubus songs.. Avocado hinted at Incubus inspiration too with Marker and the end of Big Wave.

This!
I really dig this one, though it doesn't feel like an album opener to me...it'll make a good follow up to something like sometimes or can't keep live

I like this song, and I've got nothing against Incubus, but I don't hear it. Though I guess I only know earlier Incubus. Is there any specific song you could point to?

No song in particular, but the style and delivery reminds me of later Incubus.

My take on the lyrics after close (and drunk) observation

everyone’s a critic looking back up the river
every boat is leaking in this town
everybodys thinking that they'll all be delivered
sitting in a box like lost and found

but i found my place
and it’s alright
we’re all searching for a better way
get this off of my plate
it’s alright
I got my own way to believe!!

find a lighthouse in the dark stormy weather
we all could use a sedative right now
holy rollers sitting with their backs to the middle
all alone and sinking is abound

and if you want to have to pray
it’s all right
we all be thinking with our different brain
get this off of my plate
it’s all right
I got my own way to believe

it’s okay
sometimes you find yourself having to put all your faith in no faith
mine is mine and yours won’t take its place
now make your getaway!!

science says we’re making love like the lizards
try and say that fossils ain’t profound
Simon says when we are not allowed to consider
Simon says stand up sit down you’re out

But I found my place
and it’s all right
I’m bearing witness to substantial things
get this off of my plate
it’s all right
I’ve got my own way to believe

it’s okay
sometimes you find yourself being told to change your ways
there’s no way
mine is mine and yours won’t take its place
now make your getaway-Hey!
Hey hey!!

It’s okay
sometimes you find yourself having to put all your faith in no faith
mine is mine and yours won’t take its place
now make your getaway!!
It’s okay
sometimes you find yourself being told to change your ways
for god’s sake!!
mine is mine and yours won’t take its place
now make your getaway!!

Now make your getaway!!

I know what you mean..if "Anna Molly" and "Black Heart Inertia" went to a listening party for their last album "If Not Now When" and went home and wrote a song this would be it.

yeah, it's a different kind of opener than what they've one with in the past, but i think it'll work. usually they'd have probably gone mind your manners to open.

I can say with confidence that this is my least favorite of the leaked tracks. The verses are okay but that fucking chorus is a sickly, undergrown seedling plucked right out of the near-barren tundra of spiritless and ordinary pop rock. I'll revisit it when a better quality file comes along, but this is my opinion after 3 listens.
