You just don’t get to silence artists when they’re pointing out your participation in a genocide. You can’t.

Where’s the line? There’s absolutely nothing in that film that is antisemetic nor are the lads.
Saying fuck Israel stop genocide is not antisemetic by the way

The Palestinians who spoke to Louis Theroux for his documentary? They’re now being targeted by IDF and their houses destroyed and arrested

Well they’ve reduced Gaza entirely to rubble. So where would they play?
That’s before you consider IDF have killed 250 journalists and won’t let any foreign journalists or diplomatic oversight teams in to review.
So I don’t see them letting kneecap in to make a movie and especially given they’re targeting them online and in the British courts.

Mo chara from kneecap is in a British court next week. Just look at the legal team they’ve assembled to represent him. Oof. The Brits are fucked.
Kneecap name high-profile legal team to defend terrorism charge against Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh
Blinne Ní Ghrálaigh KC, Darragh Mackin and Gareth Peirce part of team representing member of Irish-language rap trio in Westminster court

"We met with Sony, who essentially said if we want to go to the Oscars we need to stop talking about Palestine now"
kneecap manager, Dan Lambert, joined researcher Medb McDaid, @wereontheditch's Eoghan McNeill for another jammed installment of #ConnollyConversations today in @connollybooks.
"The lads have no regrets. They've always had solidarity with the Palestinian people." Dan continued.
"Why had we been able to do something for years with no kickback until [Coachella]. That festival is where the US music industry coalesces. It absolutely scared them to see the support [for Palestine] at the festival."
After the festival, big American music managers "reached out and invited us over to teach us about Israel. We told them to fuck off and that's when a lot of the trouble started"
When the terrorism charge against Liam Óg came to light, "Sky News had the charge before we had it. Their aim was a terrorism conviction to stop the band travelling... There's an enormous system to shut down Kneecap, and it will fail!"
Medb added that "whenever the [British] state dictates to us the parameters for violence and terrorism you have you laugh"
"If we drop our solidarity [for Palestine] now, it will be us next."

Re: Movie: Kneecap (2024)
The letter the Jewish lobby in the music business sent to the organisers of Glastonbury to have Kneecap taken off the bill after their performance at Coachella. They didn’t profess any support for Hamas or hezbollah at Coachella. They highlighted the genocide Israel was carrying out in Palestine and said fuck Israel, free Palestine. That’s all.
Anyways. Kneecap are not being removed from the lineup at Glastonbury by the organisers.
But this is the kind of threat artists face in the entertainment industry of all stripes if they dare speak in support of Palestine.

Full Glastonbury letter and list of music industry signatories
The emails been fw’d around media lot all week but not seen the full thing published yet so putting it here. Fair play to Glasto for not caving to the intimidation.

Dear Emily, Nick & Melvin
I hope you’re well.
And sorry to add this to your no doubt incredibly long list of things to consider for Glastonbury 2025.
Last year, in advance of Glastonbury I exchanged concerns with you about whether anyone Jewish could feel ‘safe’ at Glastonbury and your response was unequivocal and supportive.
Over the weekend and on site, despite some flag waving and some comments from stage, by and large, the event circum-navigated being co-opted and was a beacon of light at a time when many cultural events were being subverted and politicised.
Along with many others ( some of whom are on cc here ) I feel it is therefore incredibly important for the values that we collectively share with you ( unity consciousness, tolerance, love, etc ) to raise your awareness around your booking of the band Kneecap.
This weekend at Coachella, using the stage as a political platform, the band continued to openly express support for two banned terrorist organisations in Hezbollah and Hamas, and whilst we all support free speech, we cannot accept it when it drifts into whipping up hateful rhetoric that is essentially denying Israel’s right to exist as well as fanning the already intense flames of anti-semitism.
In short; following their latest actions at Coachella, we wish to ask you, Glastonbury to question the wisdom of continuing to have them on the lineup.
It just goes against everything Glastonbury stands for to give them a further way to spread their messages of hate and division; far beyond expressing anti-war or pro-peace ideas.
And of course we are sure the BBC must be considering carefully whether they can risk filming the band who openly admire and condone two designated terrorist organisations in the UK - Hezbollah & Hamas.
It would be in breach of the BBC’s impartiality charter and others are already in touch with the BBC DG and Ofcom expressing these concerns directly.
To say that the Jewish community in the UK and abroad feel threatened and deeply offended at how Kneecap can make all these statements with impunity using their platform at festivals would be an understatement.
But Coachella this weekend really exploded the issue to such a level that we simply cannot ignore it any longer.
The silence of our allies has sadly at times been a contributory factor to the way anti-Israel rhetoric has become a proxy for anti-semitism but we are not naïve and we do collectively understand and agree with free speech - so generally have to be open to hearing the views of others even if those views differ or feel uncomfortable .
But these views go much further and are propagating hate, so on this occasion we are asking that you stand with us and not allow your values as a festival to be exploited in the same way Coachella experienced this weekend and continue to ensure Glastonbury is a safe place for all people from all backgrounds.
Warmest regards
David & all on cc

I didn’t wanna make the distinction in this case as he mentions jewish several times and doesn’t mention Zionist once.
They’re very much not the same thing so let’s stick to what he said rather than assigning any further malice to his message, which would be difficult in any case.

The judge telling Mo Chara they couldn’t find an Irish translator has to be one of the funniest moments of the year.

"Mo Chara’s real problem is that the message he put out landed. Working-class people aren’t meant to speak like this, organise like this, or connect struggles across borders like this. That’s what scares them."
